General Assembly Legislation

Virginia Press Association represents newspaper interests in the General Assembly through lobbying efforts.

Since its beginning, VPA established itself as a firm defender of the fourth estate in Virginia – lobbying at the state and national levels on behalf of the Commonwealth’s newspapers. VPA was there when Virginia created its Freedom of Information Act in 1968, and was instrumental in the restructuring of FOIA in 1989, 1999 and 2004.
