Looking for an experienced reporter who wants to test the editing waters or a strong community news editor who's looking for more responsibility.

The community news division of the Daily Press Media Group is seeking a creative, hard-working deputy editor to help lead two community newsrooms in their daily content-gathering operations. He or she will help will direct and plan how that content will be used across platforms, from social media to the web to print. He or she will assist the editor in overseeing news, features and sports reporters and the publications they produce.

The ideal candidate knows that a great newsroom starts with a digital mindset and includes a combination of watchdog journalism, great storytelling and community news. He or she will work with the editor and staff to raise the journalistic bar daily by mentoring new reporters so they become better journalists. He or she will also understand how to support and encourage veteran reporters. A bachelor’s degree and digital experience are required.

The Daily Press Media Group is headquartered in Newport News, Va., but this editor will work with the teams in Williamsburg and West Point.
