Reporter Suffolk News-Herald

In this either/or world, we’re looking for someone who’s a both/and sort of journalist.

Both fast AND accurate.

Both smart AND teachable.

Both flexible AND determined.

Both creative AND driven.

Job Type: Full-time
Required education:
• Bachelor's
Required experience:
• Journalism degree or equivalent experience: 1 year

We produce two editions of the Suffolk News-Herald six days a week, along with six editions of Suffolk Living magazine and six editions of Western Branch Magazine each year and dozens of special sections and other products including a high traffic website and social media presence.
There’s no time for either/or in our newsroom. Our reporters carry notebooks AND cameras, and they’re expected to produce a prodigious amount of copy AND photographic content for all our publications, every day, in print and online. It can feel like a lot of work, but for someone with a desire to learn AND good time-management skills, there’s no better place for a serious newer journalist to gain experience or a more seasoned journalist to get to the heart of community news coverage.
This position will cover the city and school beats and tag-team breaking news, general assignment, public safety and features with another writer. Frequent nights and Saturdays required.
We are part of the Boone Newspaper Group. We offer competitive benefits including medical, dental, 401k and paid time off. Boone prides itself on internal development and promotion.

Send resume and clips to tracy.agnew@suffolknewsherald.com. No phone calls, please.
