Walters is newly appointed managing editor at the Herald Courier

Rob Walters, a veteran daily newspaper editor, has been appointed managing editor of the Bristol Herald Courier.

Walters, 54, was formerly assistant managing editor of the Frederick (Md.) News-Post, where he worked for more than a decade.

Walters led more than a dozen reporters, two assistant editors and a web editor and oversaw the newspaper's investigative reporter at the News-Post, first as city editor and then as assistant managing editor.

During his tenure in Frederick, the News-Post was named newspaper of the year seven times by the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. The paper also won the organization's Freedom of Information Award three times along with two National Headliner awards.
